The Aventine Hill is one of the legendary seven hills on which Rome was founded. Today, as part of the Rione Ripa, the hill offers visitors to the capital magnificent views among flowering gardens, churches, villas and ancient ruins. Transfers Rome has designed a private-car tour to introduce you to this charming area rich in green spaces. It is recommended to take this itinerary in spring, especially in May when the Roseto of Rome opens its gates to visitors (until October). Located near the Circus Maximus, the rose garden hosts invaluable collections of antique and botanical roses, together with exceptional modern varieties from around the world taking part in the International Rome Prize. During the landscaped tour organised by Transfers Rome you will be taken to the Garden of Sant’Alessio, between the church dedicated to the saint and Santa Sabina, and to the Giardino degli Aranci (Orange Garden), which offers an unforgettable panoramic view over Rome. This vantage point, also known as Parco Savello, was created in 1932 by the architect Raffaele De Vico. Exiting the garden and turning right you reach the neoclassical Piazza dei Cavalieri di Malta, designed in 1765 by Giovan Battista Piranesi. Through the keyhole of the Priory of the Knights of Malta you can glimpse the dome of St Peter’s Basilica.
