Transfers Rome gives you the chance to visit two magnificent Lazio towns: Palestrina, site of the grand Roman Sanctuary of Fortuna, and Anagni, the city of the Popes where Boniface VIII received the famous slap from Sciarra Colonna, envoy of the King of France. Our private chauffeurs will be pleased to accompany you on this engaging tour through ancient and medieval history. Departure from Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino, the port of Civitavecchia or your hotel. The transfer from Rome to Palestrina takes approximately one hour; a stop at a bar for coffee is possible. On arrival in Palestrina you will be taken straight to the archaeological area of the Sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia (2nd century BC). You will visit the temple where the oracle once answered the ancients, and see the remains of the forum, the basilica and the solarium. The upper part of the monumental complex houses the Colonna Barberini Palace, today home to the National Archaeological Museum of Palestrina. After the museum visit you will have lunch in a typical restaurant to sample local specialities and Roman wines. The tour continues with a private-car transfer of about 40 minutes to Anagni in the province of Frosinone. The town lies on the slopes of the Ernici mountains and is renowned as a papal seat and former summer residence for Roman emperors such as Caracalla. You will visit the historic centre.
