Departure from Fiumicino Airport, the port of Civitavecchia or another agreed pick-up point, where a private Transfers Rome chauffeur will be waiting to take you by limousine or sedan to the Pincian quarter. Here lies the park of Villa Borghese, Rome’s third-largest green area after Villa Doria-Pamphili and Villa Ada. The estate, formerly belonging to the Borghese family, was expanded in the seventeenth century by Cardinal Scipione and his heirs to create the city’s largest garden. In 1901 the complex passed to the Italian state and two years later to the municipality of Rome. The park has nine entrances and houses numerous important buildings. Our chauffeur will take you to the Pincian Hill, from where you will enjoy sweeping views over Rome, and then to the entrance of the Galleria Borghese, home to the family’s rich art collection assembled by Prince Camillo Borghese in the early nineteenth century. Highlights include the famous marble portrait of Pauline Bonaparte by Antonio Canova, Bernini’s Apollo and Daphne and Caravaggio’s Madonna of the Palafrenieri. After the museum visit you will be taken to a city restaurant to enjoy typical Roman dishes. In the afternoon you may visit Villa Giulia, home to the National Etruscan Museum, or the Bioparco, Rome’s zoo. Alternatively you may stroll around the park.
